My Work

'No Hens in the Pen'

The inspiration For 'No Hens in the Pen':
My son Andrew was heading off to Antarctica to work for 18 months and asked me what I was going to do whilst he was away.
I said I’m going to write a children’s book & get it published before you return home!

Zoe, my future daughter in law has an allotment in Worcester and she suggested that I write a book to encourage children to grow their own vegetables from seed. This would also promote more interest in healthy eating. I know from running a Gardening Club in a school in Cornwall that children love eating what they have grown themselves.

Helen, my daughter, thought that it would be a great idea to have a packet of seeds with the book. We chose cress as the fastest growing seed to give children rapid results.
